ONLINE THERAPY

Always reflect on your purpose and needs before you session.

Periodically review how things are going with your therapist.

Homework helps

Think of therapy as an investment in yourself, with lifelong return potential

Therapy on Skype is a cost-effective and convenient way to communicate with your therapist or counsellor. You have the choice of real time video, voice call, or instant chat. All you need is a computer.

Skype is a secure way to communicate. All online therapists are bound by a professional code of confidentiality. What you discuss in a session stays completely private.

Skype counselling is just the same as traditional face to face counselling, in that you talk directly with your therapist. But instead of visiting their practice, you simply go online from your choice of location, and connect through skype at a pre-agreed time.

Your skype therapy session gives you the opportunity to talk to a qualified therapist about feelings, emotions and life experiences and feel the transformation right away. Skype therapy may cover relationships, work issues, family troubles, business difficulties, feelings you hold such as depression, anxiety, anger, frustration, etc

Advantages of Therapy Counselling-Coaching & Family Constellations via Skype

  • Save your time and money, as you don’t have to factor in the duration and cost of travelling to and from the session.

  • You can have your session with your therapist in your familiar surroundings, rather than in their office. As long as you have a quiet space and a good internet connection, you can have your counselling session from any location. Close the door, switch on your computer, log on to Skype and you are having your counselling session. It can be home, your office or even from a hotel when you are travelling. It really is that simple.

  • If you find difficult to travel to a face-to-face meeting, have restricted mobility, are housebound for any reason, live in remote areas, or do not have childcare, online counselling opens up this form of help to these groups of people .

  • Clients who have had counselling via Skype say that seeing the counsellor from home makes them feel more relaxed, safe and in control of the process, allowing them to open up to the counsellor more readily. It can feel less intimidating than being directly face-to-face with the counsellor, and easier to discuss problems you find embarrassing.

  • I, as you counsellor will speak to you from a private room and the usual rules of confidentiality apply the same as in a normal one-to-one therapy session.

  • Shift workers and those whose jobs involve irregular hours or a lot of travelling can find it difficult to get a regular face-to-face counselling slot. While it is usual to set the same time and on the same day each week for our sessions, when working via Skype it can be more flexible with session times.

Few tips for getting the most out of your Coaching/Counselling process

This is an empowering process to help you work through some of the current challenges in your life. Whatever the circumstances that have prompted you to seek help, here are some tips for getting the most out of your experience

Think of Coaching/Counselling as an investment in yourself, with lifelong return potential.

We live in a culture that prizes instant fixes. Unfortunately, most important life changes usually take a little longer to achieve than we would like them to. Successful therapy requires a commitment of time and effort from you for things to get better in your life. As with many things, what you get out of therapy will depend on what you put into it. Think of therapy as an investment in who you are as a person, rather than just a place to go and “fix problems.” Good therapy should be addressing not only your present life circumstances, but also helping you to define the kind of person you are looking to become, and support your growth accordingly.

Reflect on your purpose and needs.

It can be helpful to think of your Counsellor/Coach as being more of a consultant and facilitator to you about your life, rather than an all-knowing educator or problem-solving guru. By spending a little time before each meeting reflecting on your priorities, goals, and what you would like to focus on, you’ll be able to maximize the time you have in your session.

Periodically review how things are going with your coach/counsellor

It’s helpful to review how the process is working for you after several sessions. In particular, if you have found some specific parts of the process to be really helpful or if you have some concerns or questions, I will be veryinterested to know about it and appreciate your feedback. I will also offer feedback or further ideas to you about ways you can get even more from the sessions.

Homework helps

I will suggest homework between sessions, which might consist of questions to reflect on, new strategies to try out, or maybe something to read or a worksheet. Often this homework will help you go significantly further with implementing some concepts from the session, so it’s like an extension to the therapy.

Confidentiality

All information is treated as confidential.  Although I do discuss my work with a supervisor, I do not disclose the identity of my clients.  If I felt a client was a danger either to themselves or to others I do reserve the right to inform outside agencies but would not do so without, wherever possible, informing the client first.
